The analysis the personality, human growth and social skill.

The psychoanalytic perspective and humanistic perspective are simply to analysis the personality, human growth and social skill. Psychologists point out people have different reactions in specific situation behind their motivations, they want to find out why people have these personality. Personality is the feeling, acting and thinking to typical for one person and make different with another people. Psychologist according to personality to analysis the reason in the human behave. In this essay, I will compare and contrast two perspective with psychologist, Freudian personality theories in psychoanalytic perspective and Abraham Maslow in humanistic perspective. Psychoanalytic perspectiveFreudian Personality Theory (Leon Dickerson Ph.D., 2006) is the most popular personality theories, Freud earlier develop his personality theories on the concept with three parts, id, ego and super ego. Which are improve Freud to understand of human psychology whatever feeling, acting and thinking. The first part is id (Leon Dickerson Ph.D. 2006), id is aim to satisfaction of biological needs, and it is original human to fulfilling personal pleasure. Which is irrational and emotional of the mind, it is always selfish because id only want to work for the individual’s personal benefit and work in unconscious to get gratification. The second part is ego (Leon Dickerson Ph.D., 2006), ego is between id and super ego to respond the personality to adapt on the reality, it take part in the conscious part of the mind. It is link to reality through the senses, find and search the ways to satisfying the needs of the id. Ego can be define as the manager of the personality as it attempts to balance the needs of the id and the realities. The third part is super ego (Leon Dickerson Ph.D., 2006), super ego can be define as the individual’s internal moral code, which part of the personality emerge when the childhood is around 4-6, super ego is create from moral sanctions and inhibitions that have been internalized by the child.Intrapsychic conflictsThe id is inborn and consists of basic impulses such as the need to feed and drink, it will fulfill these impulses immediately, whatever the external situation be. In the other side, the super ego is mainly to control the impulses of the id, it is learn from society moral and parents and occur in unconscious. If we cannot gratify the super ego, which can lead us to feeling of guilt or shame. In this case, Freud discover that the ego use a range of defense mechanisms. These defense mechanisms occur in unconscious, it help to drop down the unpleasant feeling such as guilt or anxiety, so ego balance the demand from id and the super ego are the most important. Defense mechanismsWe can find these defense mechanisms from Freud declared, one of these, repression is through pushing away a think or feeling to forget the painful memories. Denial is mean reject to accept that something happened, likely to face the parent’s death. Projection is when someone unconsciously thinking and feeling are different, who will unconsciously project onto by other one. Displacement happened when people experience of intense emotion situation and let this emotion releases in another situation or another people. Reaction formation is doing the opposite reaction of what the people really like to do almost always occur in speak and behavior. Psychosexual stagesAccording to Freud study everybody through five stages to develop when born to adolescence, these stages are oral stage, anal stage, phallic stage, latency stage and genital stage (Bernardo J. Carducci, 2009). In general, oral stage from birth to 1 1/2 years old, the infant if focused on oral pleasures on his or her mouth, whatever too much or too little gratification, on the evidence, it make personality may tend to have drink alcohol, smoke or bite the nails. Then the anal stage is from the age of 1 1/2 to 3 years old, the child more focused on the anus because they will begin to toilet. Phallic stage is from the age 3 to 6 years old, it is associate with the genital, child curious about different sex and touching their genital to get gratification. When the boys grow up, they will experience the Oedipus complex (Michael Pressley, ?Christine McCormick, 2007), they come to desire mother’s sexually in their unconscious from the id. Father is the competitor but who is bigger and stronger than the young boys, this unconscious desire conflicts with the super ego, it identification the father’s moral standard and the son’s super ego is mediated by a fear. In the opposite, girl will experience the Electra conflict (Michael Pressley, ?Christine McCormick, 2007), they come to desire their father. But the super ego is not stronger than boy so the threat giving rise to it was not as great. The final stage is the genital stage, the id make the sexual organs mature, want to sexual experience and get interest in the opposite sex. The significance of the unconsciousAccording to Freud, unconscious is influence our behavior and experience when we are unaware of this happen. The unconscious is a matter fact and free association, but which part of the mind isn’t directly accessible to awareness. It may be save as the feeling, anxiety, conflict and pain. These feeling haven’t disappear, which influence on our motivation and our conscious awareness. Under the hypnosis, dream analysis is the way to help to study the unconscious.
